Opening Statement: Year 1

Hello All,

I just decided that I would attempt to make my through a translation of the Bible in 365 days. My grandmother reads the Bible over and over again in different translations because she says that it gives you a better understanding as time progresses. I've never made it all the way through the Bible, I've tried in the past but honestly I got bored and quit (I know that using my age is probably a bad excuse but I'm only 23, work with me). Having said that I have been trying to find ways to improve my life as a whole and I believe that this will be a great start to improving my life.

The Plan
The Old Testament has approximately 23,214 verses and the New Testament has approximately 7,959 verses (I'm sure these are longer verses in terms of word count), which gives us a total of approximately 31,173 verses.

31,173/365=86 verses per day

This might seem like a lot but I'm sure it can be done. I really hope that this blog would develop into a very large daily biblestudy, in which there is diagloue happening but if not, I'm sure my life will benefit from the journal.

Post 1 will begin later Monday, April 12, 2010!

P.S. We're starting with the NIV

  1. Hi Kellan and DJ,
I received and just finished reading my first step of reading the bible in a year! I had received another booklet from my pastor on how to read the bible in one year but it skips around to different scritptures. Your way starts at the beginning and I like that. I'm going to try and hang with you all! Love Aunt Shirley
